BY: Henri Matisse - Statens Museum for Kunst, Copenhagen

Date: 1905
Original medium: Oil on canvas
Original size: 15.9 × 12.8 in.

A portrait by Henri Matisse of his wife Amélie, Matisse's use of color was shocking at the time. His style was derisively labeled as Les Fauves (the wild beasts), which ultimately became the name of the movement he sparked.
